Infectious Disease

Infections affecting the respiratory system can range from mild to severe, requiring prompt and effective treatment. We specialize in:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) / Pneumonia:
    • Tuberculosis: A bacterial infection primarily affecting the lungs, which can spread to other parts of the body if untreated. We offer expert diagnosis through sputum tests and imaging, along with long-term treatment plans using anti-TB medications.
    • Pneumonia: An infection causing inflammation in the lung’s air sacs, often leading to cough, fever, and breathing difficulties. We provide antibiotic therapy, supportive care, and monitoring to ensure full recovery.
  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI): Common infections like colds, sinusitis, or tonsillitis that affect the nose, throat, and sinuses. We offer symptomatic relief and, when needed, antibiotics to treat bacterial infections.
  • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): While primarily a non-respiratory condition, UTIs can sometimes be linked to systemic infections affecting overall health. We provide diagnosis and treatment to address these infections in conjunction with respiratory care.
  • Viral & Fungal Infections: Respiratory infections caused by viruses (e.g., influenza) or fungi (e.g., aspergillosis) can be particularly challenging, especially in immunocompromised patients. We use advanced diagnostics and targeted antiviral or antifungal therapies to manage these conditions.
  • Pleural Effusions / Pneumothorax Etc.:
    • Pleural Effusions: The buildup of fluid in the pleural space surrounding the lungs, often due to infections, heart failure, or cancer. We offer diagnostic procedures like thoracentesis and treatment to drain fluid and address the underlying cause.
    • Pneumothorax: A collapsed lung caused by air trapped in the pleural space. We provide emergency care, including chest tube insertion, to re-expand the lung and prevent recurrence.
